Paper Size and Weight Guide

When it comes to print, size matters so here’s everything you need to know. Before bringing your designs to life, it’s important to understand what we can offer. No technical jargon just a simple breakdown of our most popular paper sizes.

• A0–A3 - Despite the low numbers, these are our largest paper sizes. Perfect for Posters and Display Boards, they’re designed to make a statement
• A4 - The most recognised paper size and most often seen with magazines letters
• A5 - A brilliant choice for Flyers, Invitations, Menus, and Notepads—compact but impactful
• A6 - Great for Greeting Cards and Postcards. Small, stylish, and undeniably useful
• A7 - A tiny but mighty size available for Greeting Cards, RSVP Cards and more
  
  

Industrial printing presses are generally designed to work with A3, A2 or A1 sheets of paper - YouLovePrint uses a mixture of these three sizes to ensure that we can route your project to the most suitable one.

Understanding GSM

When you are considering your project, you will also need to decide what grade of paper you require and we will ask you to choose the weight of paper for your project. 

Although when you handle the finished product you are feeling how thick the paper is, we actually ask you to select the weight measure in grammes per square metre or GSM - generally, the higher the GSM, the thicker and sturdier the paper.

Different print projects require different paper weights. A premium brochure benefits from a higher GSM, while a large batch of flyers may be more cost-effective with a lower GSM.
