Lamination
Lamination adds a plastic coating to the finished product, enhancing its durability by protecting against cracks and scuffs, and extending its lifespan.
The process not only looks and feels appealing but is also practical. It's particularly suitable for hardcover books and catalogues, as it helps prevent paper tears, fold cracks, and stops ink from smudging onto fingers.
While lamination boosts both the quality and robustness of a print project, it may ever so slightly change the final colour of the item.
For projects with heavy ink usage, lamination is strongly advised.
Matt lamination
Matt lamination is our most popular finish and pairs perfectly with silk paper. If you're unsure about which finish to opt for, especially for cover or staple-bound booklets, silk paper with matt lamination is a safe choice.
In contrast to gloss finishes, matt is muted and provides an elegant, classy look. It's also an excellent choice for flyers, posters, and business cards, helping to protect against scuffs and scratches.

Gloss lamination
Commonly found in glossy magazines, typically featuring perfect binding with silk inner pages, gloss lamination provides a radiant finish that enhances contrast. It’s eye-catching due to its distinct shine and has the practical benefit of resisting surface grime, dust, and fingerprints.
Choosing gloss paper along with gloss lamination not only intensifies the colours but also adds an extra level of brilliance. This pairing is ideal for your upcoming magazine or brochure project.

No finish
There are several reasons why you might choose not to have a finish on your print project, for both practical and artistic purposes.
If you want your product to be recyclable, avoid using a laminate finish. During recycling, paper is shredded, and the plastic from lamination can interfere with the process.
Opting for uncoated paper can give your project a rustic, artistic, and eco-friendly appeal. This type of paper keeps its earthy, natural texture when left uncoated but be mindful that it's more prone to wear and tear.
If you're opting for uncoated, natural, or recycled papers, you likely value their more authentic look and feel. Laminating these types of paper can detract from their intended aesthetic.
