How to upload your files

For sheet newsletters, please only upload a single PDF file containing one page for single sided and two pages for double-sided flyer designs.

For folded newsletters, please only upload a single PDF file containing two spreads - One for each side of your folded leaflet design. Each spread must measure the flat, unfolded size of the leaflet.

For saddle stitched newsletters, please only upload a single PDF file containing all pages in order (outside front cover, inside front cover, 3, 4, 5, etc, inside back cover, outside back cover) as single pages, not spreads.

The maximum file upload is 2GB. Please contact our team if your file size is larger and we'll help you get your file into the workflow.

Please ensure that all fonts are embedded in your PDF file.

Colour

For best results, we recommend creating your artwork in CMYK Colour with 300dpi image resolution. Please be aware that uploaded RGB files will be converted to CMYK by our system, which may change some colours.

Black text should be set up with 100% black only to achieve the clearest printed text. If you are printing in greyscale, please set your artwork to greyscale prior to upload.

Cover

Keep in mind that the cover of your saddle stitched newsletter is actually made up of four pages. These are the front cover, front inside cover, back cover, and back inside cover.

If you choose to laminate your cover, only the outer spread will be laminated.

Bleed

We ask for a 3mm bleed outside of your page design. We also recommend a 3mm quiet area inside of the edges of your page designs. Please refrain from adding any important content to these areas.

Lamination

Lamination options are available for newsletters, but only for paper weighted at 170gsm or higher. If we try to laminate lighter paper, it will curl.

Custom Size Newsletter Printing

We offer custom size newsletter printing, so you can make your newsletters truly unique. This is perfect for printing square shaped newsletters.

We do this by cutting a standard paper size down to fit the desired dimensions of your newsletter. So when you place your order, choose a standard paper size that the height and width of your newsletter design would fit inside.

When you upload your artwork, make sure that it is sized to print at your custom size. Then contact our customer services team, quoting your order number.

If you cannot fit your custom newsletter size within the standard paper sizes on our website, please contact us and we will endeavor to get you a bespoke quote and get your job into production.

Newsletter Binding Types

There are generally 4 types of newsletter binding – Staple Bound, Perfect Bound, Wiro Bound and Case Bound. Although they are often referred to by similar names.

Staple Bound

Also known in the trade as Saddle Stitched. Pages are bound by 2 staples through the middle of the newsletter. This is the most affordable form of newsletter binding and commonly used for magazines, zines, brochures and comic books.

Perfect Bound

Also known in the trade as PUR, which is an abbreviation of PolyUrethane Reactive adhesives. Perfect Bound newsletters have their pages glued into a flat spine. Perfect bound newsletters typically include paperback books, high end magazines, graphic novels, catalogues and prospectus.

Wiro Bound

Also known as Wire Bound, because pages are held together by a loop of wire that winds through holes punched in the papers. Wiro bound newsletters are typically diaries, notepads, manuala and activity books.

Case Bound

Also known as hardback, because of the hard cover which is fixed around the outside of pages glued together into a flat spine, similar to the inner pages of a perfect bound newsletter. Hardback newsletters are usually reserved for premium or hard wearing books, notebooks, diaries and collections of art or stories.
