How to upload your files
Feel free to upload your layflat book print files in whatever way suits you. Many of our customers find that uploading single files for each page spread is easiest, but you can upload a combined file containing all your book’s spreads as well.
The maximum file upload is 2GB. Please contact our team if your file size is larger and we'll help you get your file into the workflow.
Concerning the artwork setup, layflat books differ from other printed materials. Most books we print have covers made of four pages, however, a layflat book’s cover only has two – the front cover and the back cover.
Our layflat books feature endpapers, which are the inside front and inside back covers. We cannot print anything on these pages. You will notice that these places are locked on your layflat book order. The endpapers feature may throw off your page sequencing, putting left and right facing pages in the wrong order, so pay attention when uploading your pages. The colour choices for endpapers of layflat books are either white or black.
Layflat books have a hard cover, which overhangs the inner pages. In order to make the cover, we need a large bleed area on the front, back, and spine. Please allow for 20mm bleed on all sides.
For the spine of your layflat book, we will need a 20mm bleed at the top and bottom. If you choose to upload a cover spread, you do not have to upload a separate file for the spine of your book. We do ask that you add a 5mm bleed to the front and back covers, however, which is placed on either side of the spine depth in your design.
If you do not upload your cover as a spread, you will need to upload a separate print file for the spine of your layflat book. Our online ordering system calculates the spine depth for you after you’ve added pages, so you adjust accordingly.
Within the cover page size, we recommend a quiet area or margin of at least 8mm around the edge.

When you want to present your collection of photographs, images, or designs in stunning quality and without interruption, a layflat book is your best choice. These books lay flat when opened and allow your imagery to flow seamlessly across the page, preventing the spine from breaking up any text or images. Creative agencies and designers who want to show off their work will find layflat books incredibly useful, as will photographers, property developers, or anyone in an industry that emphasises visual elements. Our layflat books help you impress your readers with a laminated, professional finish.
