Digital vs Litho
Two key factors distinguish Digital from Litho printing: the technique and apparatus. Digital printing shines when producing smaller quantities, while Litho printing is the go-to for larger runs. Both methods deliver exceptional colour and image clarity.
Digital printing
We utilise top-tier digital offset technology to achieve outstanding print quality. Digital printing is notably cost-effective for smaller runs due to its low setup costs. We are equipped with 6 HP-Indigo presses, including 3 B2 sized devcices. Indigo technolopgy is vastly superior to other digital technologies and shouldn't be confused with inferior toner-based presses more akin to photo-copiers.
As well as being more cost effective for shorter run lengths, digital presses operate on shorter lead times as no printing plates have to be made.

Litho printing
Litho printing, sometimes also known as offset printing, has been the standard printing technicque for more than 50 years. In this process, the image is inked onto colour seperared metal plates (one each for cyan, magenta, yellow and black), then transferred to a rubber blanket, and finally to the paper, delivering a crisp, clean print.
We utilise three Heidelberg Speedmaster XL106 presses, massive machines weight more than 50 tonnes each. They are work with B1 sized paper and boasts the capability to churn outr 18,000 sheets an hour, some 288,000 colour A4 pagesevery hour!
Setting up a litho press does involve a bit more work and cost, especially with getting the metal plates ready. This initial effort contributes to a higher starting cost but becomes cost-effective for large-scale runs of thousands or even tens of thousands.

Colour variance
Our digital and litho presses both use cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks to deliver fantastc results.
Whilst the quality difference between the processes are virtually imperceptable to the untrained eye, there can be some differences which only become apparent when comparing like for like runs from the same file. Therefore, if you do a small test we would typically use the digital process and then switch to a litho press for a larger batch, thereby creating a subtle difference in colour.
