Dust jackets
A dust jacket is a removable outer cover with folded flaps that wrap around the front and back of the book to shield it from dirt and damage. YouLovePrint produces dust jackets on silk paper stock, complete with either a protective gloss or matte lamination. For an impressive and captivating look, you have the option to include gold or silver foiling.

Dust jacket design
Dust jackets originally protected cloth-covered hardback books back in the 1800s. Nowadays, they offer a fantastic opportunity to boost your book's presentation through stunning artwork.
These removable covers, which neatly wrap around your book, allow for creative expression. The flaps, or panels, serve as ideal spaces to feature additional details such as author information, reviews, or social media profiles.
Dust jacket set up guide
Since your dust jacket will be printed on a single sheet before being wrapped around your book, please provide your artwork as a single spread design.
When uploading your dust jacket file to YouLovePrint, we recommend naming it clearly so our system can easily recognise it and ensure it's printed to the correct dimensions. Suitable file names might include "dustjacket", "dust-jacket", "dust_jacket", and "dust jacket".
To determine the size for the finished dust jacket from the internal book size, please add:
- 7mm to the width of the front and back cover
- 6mm to the height of the front and back cover
- The spine width
- The required flap sizes to each side
- A 3mm bleed to all external sides

If you've opted for foiling or Spot UV on your dust jacket, you'll need to add a new file for this layer to your design.
For metallic foil, a custom quote is necessary. Please email us with your order number if you have one.
