Binding
Our range of binding options, from staple bound to hardcover, cater to all styles and budgets for brochures, magazines, booklets and more, ensuring you find the perfect match.
Saddle-Stitched (Staple Bound)
Saddle-stitch binding offers a cost-effective solution for brochures, comic books, and low-page-count publicatio. It involves inserting folded sheets within one another and fastening them at the spine with metal staples, ensuring a neat and secure finish.
This binding method is the most cost-effective option available. However, for booklets with a higher page count, we recommend perfect binding instead.

Perfect Bound (PUR)
For magazines and paperback books, perfect bound is a popular choice, suitable for projects with a specific page count or paper thickness. This method strengthens your publication by gluing the inner pages to the spine, followed by attaching the cover.
When opting for perfect binding, printing on the spine becomes an option. We simplify this for you by calculating the spine length, which you can review in your Shopping Cart. If a spine print file is not provided, this section will remain blank.
It is important to note the differences with PUR bound products. PUR binding offers enhanced durability compared to standard perfect binding by using Polyurethane Reactive (PUR) adhesive. This gives better flexibility and significantly increases the strength of the binding, making it much more difficult for pages to be pulled out. In contrast, standard perfect binding uses Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), known for its quick-setting properties.

Wiro Bound (Spiral Bound)
Wiro binding involves punching holes along one side of the pages and securing them with a metal coil, ideal for booklets. It allows prints to lie flat or fold back easily, enhancing usability and presentation. This is a popular option for notebooks, planners and booklets.

Hard Cover (case bound)
Hardcover, or Casebound Binding, enhances the durability of high-page count books with its robust, non-flexible cover and backboard. For Hardcovers, the artwork setup diverges from standard offerings, requiring only a front cover, back cover, and spine for the design files, instead of the usual four-page layout. Interior pages are PUR bound before being affixed to hard case using the endpapers.
Additionally, we offer thread-sewn binding for added durability. This method, known as Smyth Sewing, stitches groups of pages together with thread, significantly boosting the book's strength and longevity. It's particularly recommended for publications with numerous pages and heavy paper stocks. This option is currently custom and not offered online, please get in touch with our team for a custom quote.

Hardcover Bleed
To print the cover for your hardback books, we need a large bleed area so that your cover design wraps around the top of the inside cover area. Please add a 20mm bleed area to the edges of your cover design with the expectation that this will wrap around to the other side of the hardcover.
Hardcover Spine
Our online ordering system will calculate the spine width when you add pages to your order, so you will know how large it is. We ask for a 20mm bleed area on the top and bottom of the spine and 5mm bleed area ‘hinges’ added either side.
Do not upload a separate spine file. Please upload a single cover design file with your front cover, spine and back cover in a single spread.
Total Hardcover Width with Bleed
20mm bleed + front cover width + 5mm hinge + spine width + 5mm hinge + back cover width + 20mm bleed.
