Manga have a style, culture, and audience all their own. They’re more than just comic books – they adhere to a specific type of artwork and the genre even has distinct sub-genres. Always printed in a small size and read from right to left, it’s important to find a printer who understands the needs of your manga and can make it happen. We have a range of paper types, weights, and sizes, including A5, A6, B6, and Manga Standard (127mm x 191mm), to help you bring your manga to life.

How to Print Your Manga

How to upload your files

Feel free to upload the print files for your manga in the way that best suits you. You can add them as single pages or spreads, as individual files or a combined file. We’ll extract the necessary content as needed.

Cover

Remember that the “cover” of your manga is actually made of four pages. These are the front cover, inside front cover, back cover, and inside back cover. Try to design your cover accordingly.

Bleed

We ask for a 3mm bleed on all pages for manga. Do not include any important content in this area in your print files.

Binding

For manga and comic books, we can do either perfect binding or saddle-stitched (stapled) binding. Please note that these options depend on the number of pages in your manga. If you have too many pages, we may only be able to print it with perfect binding. If you have too few pages, however, we may only be able to print with stapled binding.

Spine for Perfect Bound

For manga with perfect binding, you can upload a separate print file for the spine. You will see the spine depth calculated and displayed in your shopping cart after you’ve added all your pages in our online ordering system. For the print file for the spine, we also ask for a 3mm bleed. If you do not upload a print file for the spine of your manga, we will leave it blank.

Completing your order

All page placeholders must be filled to complete your order. For example, if your manga is 64 pages, all 64 boxes must be complete. You can only add pages in multiples of four so if you do not have enough content, you must add blank pages.

Manga Printing FAQ

We recommend uploading single pages organised within a single PDF file..

Yes. We’re one of the best perfect bound printing companies in the UK. PUR binding requires a minimum number of pages.

Only if your manga is going to be perfect bound. You have the option of uploading a double page spread with spine for your cover file. Or you can upload the front cover, back cover and spine file separately.

For small runs, we tend to print your manga on HP Indigos for digital printing and for larger runs of 1,000+ copies, we use Heidelberg Speedmasters for offset litho printing. For more information, please see our plant list.

Yes. All our papers are FSC® certified, we are a CarbonNeutral® company and ISO 14001 Environmental Management certified. For more information, please see our sustainability accreditations.

Nope. You can enjoy full use of our web-to-print platform and customer services without paying a penny. You only pay when you’re absolutely ready to print.

Our web-to-print system accepts most file types. However, we highly recommend a 300dpi high resolution PDF for the best results. Please check your digital proofs prior to printing.

Not yet, but soon. In the meantime, we recommend adding a 3mm bleed area to the outside of your pages and a 5mm quiet area on the inside of your pages. For more information, visit our print file setup guide.

Yes. Once you upload your artwork files, our online printing system has a manga proofing feature to help you check your proofs, flag any issues and ask our customer service team any questions you may have before you send your job into production.

If your manga is perfect bound, the system will calculate the spine width of your manga for you when you visit our file uploading page. Don’t forget to upload your spine file.

No. Printed mangas are exempt from VAT.
